Artist Statement/Artist CV

Mini Artist Statement

My art is an amalgamation of everything that I find fascinating.  I think sometimes I am rather selfish because a lot of the time I make art just for myself in order to express things. I am not the most articulate person, so I use my art to speak for me. Anytime I create art, whether it is graphic design or painting, I like to create a mood.  Whether it is a happy mood or a foreboding one, I always like it to be palpable. For a piece to feel complete I always have a background story or some symbolism attached to it.  My works are extensions of myself where I take my interests such as: astronomy, sci-fi, films, pop culture, medicine & anatomy, theories, religion, science, society, and they manifest themselves into my own creations.  Common themes in my art are things of a sub-conscious and intangible nature that draw heavily from science fiction lore. I believe the acquisition of knowledge can be found anywhere: art, nature, people, and yes even TV. So keeping that in my mind, anytime I can add to someone’s knowledge of something they did not know previously, I do it. I achieve this by using reference title and also I tend to use text a lot in my work. If I could filter my work down to areas, it would be: science fiction, juxtaposition, anatomy, design, and storytelling.
