Hello youse guys! Hope everyone has had a great week and A Happy Valentine’s Day last weekend! Last weekend was crazy busy because Saturday night was the annual Father Daughter Banquet that my Dad and I (I call him Daddy pronounced Dead-y, just a side note) always attend. Here we are before we left, I think we clean up pretty good:
It was a fun night, we coordinated in our burgundies and had really good food and enjoyed father daughter time with other people from area churches. Then the next day we (not just me and my dad, it was a little group of us from our church) went to sing church hymns at a nursing home which I always enjoy. Anyways I like weekends that like that, crazy busy!
But you all came here for art enlightenment, right?! Well if you didn’t, then this week is perfect for you! I love to read (as for the above quote throw in my Doctor Who blanket and a cold cloudy rainy day, then that is an even better recipe for reading!) and this week I finished two books. They both appeal to me as both a Christian and an artist, so I was fed with good literature this week plus I started a new series. So this week about is sharing what all was buzzing in my head.
The first book was Muscle And A Shovel by Michael Shank. Incredible book about New Testament Evangelism and about “digging” your way through the Bible to truly understand what to believe and why. So many people in denominations don’t bother reading the Bible and go on man’s word rather than reading it for themselves. Anyways great great book, I highly recommend it!
The next one is another great book about creativity and embracing your ideas to make them work. Its Steal Like An Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative by Austin Kleon. Its a quick read and begs to read over and over again! Its full of great ideas for creative types to maximize your full potential. So yeah I can tell its gonna be worn out pretty soon with lots of re-reads!
So yeah I’m proud I have a goal to read 20 books this year and I had a prospected list to follow but a little hiccup happened. I bought my brother A Song Of Fire And Ice series by George R.R. Martin last year and since then I have watched all 3 season of Game Of Thrones (I’m Hooked!!). So I borrowed the first book from my bro and started reading it. I thought it would be best to read it with the show fresh on my mind (I started the first season the 20 January then finished with all 3 seasons 2 weeks later…yeah I’m a machine). They are big books but I’ve got this!
So I hope you enjoyed my slight departure from art this week but I’ll be back at it next week. Thanks for reading!
